A friend of mine has begun a new tradition of posting random poetry on his facebook page. I like it! I think from now on we should have random poetry day, instead of Friday Random 10. The rule is the poem has to be about something random in your daily life - that is all. You can do it freestyle, haiku, limerick - it doesn't matter. Here's mine for today:
Slim Chance Beer
Light beers, like water, can leave me empty
longing for the deepest pleasures only reached
when tapped out by your cool crisp froth.
Fermented to perfection
with the best intentions to please my sorrows,
drown my dreams, wallow away the unhappy
content of a ho hum day.
Lounging on the beach,
sitting on the couch,
working in the yard,
baking a pie - it really doesn't matter.
Accompanying all with the exquisite taste
usually reserved for the grape loving
connoisseur of perfect pairing.
I drink you in.
Finished, I'm alone, complete.
Never left with a wide mouth
or a wide ass.
